They assist in classrooms, work with small groups of students, and often help with classroom management, instructional activities, and providing individual attention to students who need extra assistance. Paraprofessionals play a crucial role in enhancing student learning and are vital contributors to the educational team. Weather Alert & Holiday Break Update! NO SCHOOL today, Friday, December 20, 2024 - All Flint Community Schools, including the Administration Building, are closed due to inclement weather. Additionally, the district will be on holiday break from Monday, December 23, 2024, through Friday, January 3, 2025. Superintendent Jones, GISD Superintendent Dr. Tunnicliff, State Superintendent Dr. Rice, and his team visited Ms. Monique Campbell’s 3rd-grade class at Doyle Ryder Education Center for a special discussion on the power of spoken word. Together with the students, they explored the timeless poem, Dream by Langston Hughes. The visit was filled with inspiration as Superintendent Jones and Dr. Rice read the poem aloud, inviting scholars to reflect on its meaning and share their own dreams for the future. This engaging classroom participation highlighted the importance of creativity, literacy, and self-expression. Doyle Ryder scholars were captivated by the discussion and shared their thoughtful insights, demonstrating the excellence and brilliance in our classrooms. Superintendent Kevelin Jones is at Southwestern Classical Academy alongside the Student Council, welcoming GISD Superintendent Dr. Steven Tunnicliff, State Superintendent Dr. Michael F. Rice, and his team. Together, they are engaging in a Candid Conversation to explore how the state can further support Flint Community Schools scholars. Specifically the need for better infrastructure at the schools to improve the environment for students. Additionally, the discussion aims to encourage students to join the State’s Student Council, ensuring Flint is represented at the state level.

We strive to keep all of our students as healthy and safe as possible. One of the best ways one can do this is being fully immunized. The state requires students enrolled in school to be up to date on their childhood immunizations. Any new enrollee, 7th grader, or kindergartener not up to date will have their classes closed upon return from winter break on January 6th if required documentation is not provided. Please see attached flyer for information about our upcoming immunization clinic. If your child is not up to date please make an appointment with their doctor, the heath department, or make an appointment at our upcoming clinic to avoid class closures.
