2:1 Ratio for Devices for Every FCS Scholar
Flint Community Schools (FCS) has a 2:1 ratio of devices to students, meaning each student has two devices for learning. These devices can include Chromebooks, laptops, or iPads. The Technology Initiative, which uses Title funding, provides the devices and digital learning resources. The initiative's goal is to help students choose, achieve, and demonstrate their learning goals.

Flint Montessori Applications
After the School of Choice enrollment period opens at different times during the school year, all applicants must reside within the Flint Community Schools district boundaries. Please see a boundary map in the next section.
Applications accepted December 20th – January 16th. No exceptions. Applications open twice during a school year and will reopen for the 2025-2026 school year.

How does it work?
Students can enroll in a different school within their resident district.
Students can enroll in a school district in a different intermediate school district.
Districts can limit the number of students who can enroll, and which grades, buildings, or programs are available.
Districts set the application and enrollment dates.

Early Childhood Wing at Brownell STEM Academy: Our dedicated early childhood wing at Brownell STEM Academy in partnership with Genesee County Community Action Resource Department is a space where young learners can explore STEM-focused activities in an engaging and hands-on environment, fostering early interest and proficiency in science, technology, engineering, and math.
GCCARD - Head Start: Two classrooms servicing scholars 6 weeks to 3 years of age.
GISD Head Start: Two classrooms servicing scholars 3-4 years of age.
Flint Community Schools (GSRP) Great Start Readiness Program: Two classrooms servicing scholars 4 years of age.
Flint Community Schools ECDD: Two Learning Support Services classrooms (Special Education) servicing scholars 2-4 years of age.

Where to Enroll?
Enrolling your child at Flint Community Schools is a simple process designed to ensure every scholar has access to a high-quality education. Families can complete the enrollment process in person or online.

Required Documents for Enrollment
To enroll, families must provide:
✅ Proof of residency (utility bill, lease agreement, etc.)
✅ Child’s birth certificate
✅ Immunization records
✅ Parent/guardian photo ID
✅ Previous school records (if applicable)

Flint Community Schools District Boundaries
Flint Community Schools serves scholars and families within the City of Flint, providing educational opportunities for students from Pre-K through 12th grade. The district boundaries encompass neighborhoods throughout Flint, ensuring that all scholars residing within these areas have access to a high-quality, community-centered education.
Families living within the Flint Community Schools district can enroll their children in their designated neighborhood schools. However, the district also offers school-of-choice options for families who reside outside the boundaries but wish to attend Flint Community Schools.
