Flint, MI – December 3, 2024 – Flint Community Schools is honored to announce a heartwarming partnership with Christmas at the Dort Financial Center, a cherished holiday initiative that spreads joy and generosity throughout the Flint community. This incredible partnership was made possible thanks to the efforts of Forleasadon Harper, Secretary at Eisenhower Elementary. Ms. Harper recognized the opportunity to uplift Flint Community Schools scholars and shared the district’s vision with the Christmas at the Dort committee. Her advocacy and dedication to the community inspired this generous initiative.
Scholars from the following schools will receive gifts as part of this holiday giveaway:
Brownell STEM Academy
Doyle Ryder Elementary
Durant-Tuuri-Mott Elementary
Eisenhower Elementary
Freeman Elementary
Holmes STEM Middle School Academy
Neithercut Elementary
Potter Elementary
The gift distribution is scheduled to take place on Thursday, December 12, 2024, bringing joy to scholars and their families throughout the district. In addition to the gift distribution, the Christmas at the Dort Financial Center team will host a free public event on Saturday, December 21, 2024, at 3:00 PM. Open to everyone in the community, this festive celebration will feature family-friendly activities, holiday entertainment, and opportunities for the community to come together in the spirit of giving and gratitude.
Flint Community Schools Superintendent, Kevelin Jones, expressed heartfelt appreciation for both Christmas at the Dort and Ms. Harper’s contributions, saying, “This partnership exemplifies the best of Flint’s spirit—a community that comes together to make a difference in the lives of our scholars. We are deeply grateful to Christmas at the Dort Financial Center for their generosity and to Ms. Harper for her vision and dedication in making this partnership a reality.
