FLINT, Mich. — The Flint Community Schools District is moving forward with plans for a new high school, thanks to a $750,000 grant from the Charles Stewart Mott Foundation.
The school board members unanimously accepted the grant Wednesday night, marking a significant step toward creating the new educational facility.
The funds will be allocated for the project's design and planning phase. Although the high school campus is still far from completion, district officials view this as progress.
"Schematic design is just allowing us to get community feedback and also have some type of foundation of what this building can look like," said Kevelin Jones, superintendent of Flint Community Schools. "But we will not do that without our community, our scholars, our teachers, the staff, and the Board of Education."
